The Institute for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage of the National Research Council (IBAM-CNR), having its headquarters in Southern Italy (Catania, Lecce, Potenza, Rome), is an interdisciplinary scientific centre with high expertise and specialized skills concerning the study of technologies used for managing cultural information systems; cataloguing methods for the study of tangible and intangible archaeological heritage; developing embedded laboratories on bio archaeology, archaeometry and communication and using the latest information technologies employed for 3D reconstructions, augmented reality and web dissemination. IBAM has more than 70 researchers, 18 technical experts and 17 staff people. The long-term aim of IBAM is to share scientific data and disseminate in a more effective way the understanding of monuments and archaeological contexts in national and International countries (such as Peru, China, Turkey). The main research activities of the Institute are focused on four macro-areas: 1. settlements, territory, landscapes; 2, material culture and society; 3, technologies and tools for the diagnosis and conservation of Cultural Heritage; 4. technologies and tools for the understanding and communication of CH.
