We are Koprivnički entrepreneur Ltd., a business support institution from Croatia, 100% owned by the City of Koprivnica.
We have prepared a project idea for Interreg MED programme.
If interested, please contact us by e-mail: bojan.kostic@inkubator.infoContext
Entrepreneurial climate in the mediterranean area in numerous cases depends on traditional and family businesses, especially during the touristic season. Many small and middle sized firms located in the coastline cities and villages during the touristic season survive only by selling souvenir-like products. These are in most cases old family firms and small shops that incorporate local or national cultural heritage into their souvenirs and product – for example mugs with national motives, domestic food, home-made drinks, postcards with local touristic sites etc.
Because their businesses are mostly small-scaled and when we talk about family and traditional firms in mediterranean area, we can’t talk about big and stable corporations – that’s why recent economical crisis has shaken the ground of those SMEs (and, of course, not only them). However, due to their geographical position, those kind of SMEs can rely on survival on the market, because they are situated in the area where tourists are the basis of economic growth and tourism-driven economy is the main source of sustainable capitalisation in those regions.
So, post-crisis effects are not as strong in every part of economy – some places just because of their geographical position can easily overcome the crisis. Those are the places by the Mediterranean Sea, places near the harbours and the income of tourists and foreign visitors is large.
Unfortunately, SMEs located in more continental areas of the Mediterraenian are not that lucky and while their competition up on the shore can rely on the tourists, the continental parts cannot.NEXUS cluster network
This project aims at helping and supporting the SMEs from the mediterraenian continental areas which have been affected by the recent crisis. Traditional and family businesses that are not so lucky to have the proximity of the sea as their seashore competition, must rely mostly on the quality of their products and the means of selling that product.
The problem is that those kind of enterprises, due to the crisis, must put all their efforts and capacities into saving their business from bankruptcy and barely preserving their competitiveness on the market.
The best way of regaining their before-crisis status on the market is to present new and innovative products in new and innovative way.
Because those kind of SMEs don’t have enough time, knowledge and competency to uplift their business with innovative ways of marketing and product making, the Nexus cluster network would establish a network of innovation and support for those SMEs. Nexus cluster network would act as a supporting network and a database of plans, strategies and examples for innovative solutions in traditional and family businesses.- This topic was modified 8 years, 7 months ago by ivancica.no.1.
