    City of Kastela

Town Kastela is place with rich history and great number of protected cultural objects( castles, houses, urban regions) situated on the coast of the Kastelas bay in the lenght of 17 km. The town consists of 7 settlements, every settlement is based around historical city centre. Unfortunately many of these castles are in bad shape as a result of weather and clime impacts, illegal upbringing, lack of maintenance and no management plan. As a result we have many unique and picturesque ruins situated near the beaches. These castles and houses should be renovated and revitalized so that further devastation is prevented and cultural heritage is protected for the next generation.
Project acitivities – Create the database of castles, palaces and houses according to their legal owners, sate of devastation and level of existing documentation, prepare local public strategy for renovation, create management plan in tourist activities for protected objects in local property, prepare guidelines to avoid further devastation rise awareness of local citizens toward the local history and its impact .

Dear Sirs, I represent the municipality of Rhodes
The island of Rhodes/ Greece is situated at the SE of the Aegean Sea. The island occupies an area of approximately 1,400 square kilometers and has an actual population of 116.000 people. Rhodes Municipality refers to the whole island.
The city of Rhodes has a history of 2400 years. The different people who settled in the island left their mark in all aspects of the island’s culture: art, language, architecture. The Medieval city of Rhodes, built by the Knights of St. John, is one of the best preserved Medieval Cities in Europe and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988.
Due to intense pirate activity and the activities of the Knights of St John, the island has a remarkable number of castles and fortresses of which many have survived. Apart from the medieval castles, there are other castle ruins dating back to Prehistoric, Classical and Hellenistic times. Many important traditional and industrial buildings are situated in the rural area of the island.
Rhodes is a popular international “Sea-Sun-Sand” tourist destination and a mass seasonal tourism model is applied on the island for several decades. That form of tourism is currently acknowledged to be environmentally damaging and leading into socio-cultural delegation of the area. It is within the Municipality’s strategy to develop alternative forms of tourism while capitalizing the comparative advantages of the island (natural and cultural recourses).
We think that your project proposal is very interesting and we would like to know more about it.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards

The coastal watchtowers are a military buildings built in the sixteenth century, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain to defend the territory against attacks of Berebere pirates. Most of these watchtowers have been restored, but there has not been a tourist use of such significant heritage.

    Dear Sirs,

We work as a consulting company with several Municipalities in Portugal. In particular, we work with Municipalities in the Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal. The cultural heritage of the Algarve is very rich: from castles to coastal watchtowers and lighthouses; from art to language; from nature to architecture.
Taking into account the project’s objectives we identify opportunities to join your project. In fact, the future of sustainable and responsible tourisme also relays on the preservation of culture heritage richness.
We would like to know from you if you are looking for a Portuguese municipality as a partner for your project. If that’s the case, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

    Dear all,

I have seen your project proposal and I think that it is a very promising idea. If you still have a missing part of a puzzle by partners, we will be glad to cover the Carniola (Gorenjska) region in Slovenia.
I’m writing you from Development agency for Upper Gorenjska – Razvojna agencija Zgornje Gorenjske (RAGOR) is non-profit public institution. It was established on the basis of equal partnership by municipalities Bohinj, Jesenice, Kranjska Gora, Radovljica and Žirovnica, in the year 2000. Along with two other sub regional development agencies, RAGOR is part of Gorenjska Regional Development Agency.

The region is placed in one of the NUTS 2: SI02 – Western Slovenia NUTS 3: 09 – Gorenjska.

Let me just give you short note what we are doing:
    Presentation of the organization
RAGOR organizes its work and has responsibilities in the field of human resources, SME’s, tourism, and rural, spatial, environmental and infrastructure development for 8 municipalities. Our municipalities have also some castels in bad shape and also some of the historical hauses should be renoveted. So this project should be the right one also for us.

Mission of RAGOR is to coordinate and foster overall development of the Upper Gorenjska sub region. Since its establishment, RAGOR implemented more than 70 projects, financed by the European and national resources.

Upper Gorenjska is an area of 1.171 square kilometres, consists of eight municipalities and has approximately 66.300 inhabitants. It is located in the NW part of Slovenia, borders to Austria and Italy.

I hope we will be interested partner for your project.

In case you need any further information, do not hesitate to contact me.

    Have a nice day,

Eldina Čosatović, Master of Business Studies

    Dear Sirs,
I write on behalf of the cultural association “Amici di Castelli Aperti”,

this cultural association “Amici di Castelli Aperti” with the Local Tourist Agency of Biella promotes visits to castles, gardens, palaces, houses and towns in Piedmont and Liguria within “Castelli Aperti Festival” (www.castelliaperti.it).
Piedmont and Liguria have an ancient system of fortification dating to the X-XII century present on the territory. This heritage is represented by large castles that have undergone several transformations over the centuries, but also an extensive network of castles now reduced to ruins especially in the Alps and Apennines climbing over the two Regions.
The wealth of remains and ruins, sometimes with the only survivor tower, is a heritage of great charm. The idea of mapping the castles aimed at the creation of itineraries by car, walking or with other means is therefore a matter of great interest. This is combined with the importance of the identification of a number of ‘best practices’ for promoting the heritage of the ruins and the remains with a focus on new technologies and social communication.

We think that your project proposal is very interesting and we would like you to consider our candidacy to participate in your project.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
