Stella Astirakaki I Wines of Crete

    Dear Uligino,

“Wines of Crete” is a non-profit organization (located in the biggest island of Greece, Crete), since 2006, which represents approximately the 90% of Cretan wineries. At the moment, there are 31 Wineries all over Crete that are listed as members.

Main Goals: Expand and promote our wine quality, our 11 indigenous varieties, the Winetourism in Crete by any effective means, under generic and horizontal actions for all of our winery-members.

We would be delighted if we could create an alternative touristic project, which would combine the long history of Wine Culture, where wine trade began to exist in Greece. Therefore, our archaeological sites and history in Crete are strongly bonded with our culture.

Please let us know if you re interested in further analysis of our strategic policies, we would love to become partners into your project.

    At you disposal
    Stella Astirakaki

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Along the Mediterranean Coastal Strip Albania was the missing piece of the puzzle. It was only two decades ago that the Albanian Mediterranean Coast became accessible to the rest of the world and has ever since struggled to enter the wider international market.
Apparently attempts made over these years in order to get a sound and sustainable tourism development in place have not yet build a fully dimensional and sufficient offer that would put the country in the map. Evidently development mainstream was focused on the coastal area lacking orientation and a sound model to follow, putting natural and cultural resources at risk, and overall getting a very narrow understanding of sustainable development by both the local authorities and communities.
Furthermore according to the statistics obtained by the Polytechnic University of Tirana in Cooperation with the Albanian Tourism Association (the most important industry based umbrella association in the country) the coastal area and the destination overall suffers high seasonality symptoms.
Recently modest efforts made to promote the country’s potentials for a diversified tourism offer showcase the wake of a reaction to the real need coming from the market. Despite the chaotic development which shelters seasonality there still is ample space for diversification of the Albanian Mediterranean Coastal offer

The project team of the Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT) appreciated the proposal and is very interested in participating in it.
Tourism is a driving sector of Albania’s Economy along with Agriculture and is receiving a lot of attention by the government.
Becoming part of a Med.Coastal offer diversification initiative would give us the opportunity to contribute to it with the application of our knowledge in a very important domain of country’s economy
Unlike other public Universities in Albania we have built our own project team that operates as project development catalyst evaluating and meeting sector needs in Albania. With our strong local network across Albania and the region and thanks to a consortium with other partners we are ideally placed to facilitate development projects.
Our partners are the Albanian Tourism Association, the Albanian Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education, Coastal Municipalities of Saranda, Vlora, Himara, Durres, Lezhe and Shkoder etc provides us the opportunity to have a clear picture on the issues and have a very wide channel of mutual communication with these authorities and communities.
Polytechnic University of Tirana employs 700 full-time tenure-track professors therefore it has the experience, capacities and systems to undertake projects using a multi stakeholders approach. Polytechnic University of Tirana’s clients include central and local government, private investors, local and regional level organisations and certainly international organisations such as UNFCCC, GIZ, USAID, Soros Foundation, European Commission, etc.
We would be happy if our participation and contribution in the project will be considered.

    Dear sir,

during the last four years, CADEC has been supporting tourism through an original mechanism of financing in partnership with the TOURISM AGENCY of CORSICA.
following the Agency preconizations we assist more than 200 SME’s projects in tourism business, providing financial loans with no interest rate, with a specific attention for investment impacts on environment, willing to facilitate seasonality extension which is a strategic issue for our island.

We would be very glad to participate in your project, sharing our local experience with others and learning how to define quality standards for responsible projects to support a responsible tourism business.

We remain at your disposal for more informations.

    Best Regards
