Project title: “Doing Green Bussiness in Albania – Embracing Green Technology Development, through Policy, Information & Knowledge Society”.

Albania is a SME-based economy in which the sectors of agriculture, industry and commerce in urban and rural areas play a vital role regarding economic growth and employment opportunities. However, taking into account the environmental situation in general and waste-related problems in particular, SMEs face several severe common problems in sustatinable envirenment in order to keep up their competitiveness in national and European markets. Project partners have decided to tackle the urgent need, among others, to improve business support services in order to elaborate “Doing Green Business”, which is an integrated national approach that will help provide a specific support service for SMEs in national level for the economy sectors leaning towards green bussiness. The project’s overall objective is to set up and elaborate the Support Service Protocol that will provide business organisations on national level with guidelines and policies on how to improve green technology applications, also provide these organisations with better assessment tools in order to enable them to tackle the common challenges that they face and finally to best guide SMEs so that these can fully exploit the opportunities provided by EC for them. The Protocol will also give guidelines on how to best facilitate and promote an innovative green entrepreneurship for SMEs in these sectors. Green Support Service Protocol will also include an integrated ICT platform database to register the waste capacity produced by these sectors on national level, including waste that can serve as the raw material for biooil production via pyrolis process.

Based on a mutual learning apporach the partnership will use established good practices, prior project results and newly detected good practices in order to identify the most adequate ones in relation to successful, transferable, innovative and realistic approaches. Based on these findings the partnership will elaborate the Support Service Protocol. Futhermore, the followig support tools will be developed which will make it possible to implement the Support Service Protocol: National Integrated Database for SME support and service providers, Tools for raising innovation awareness such as ToolKit for entrepreneurs, Virtual Platform, E-Learning Course, among others.
Both the Support Service Protocol and the support tools will be tested by the partners and interested stakeholders. Their adequateness will be commonly discussed between the partners and the target groups. Improvements will be integrated in order to actively transfer the Support Service Protocol and capacitate employees of business support services to implement the Protocol and support tools in their entities. The core results of the project will be an improved policy, effectiveness and quality of green businesses in field of agriculture, industry and commerce for a sustainable environment, that will be able to facilitate an innovative adapted technogy, improve their product quality and marketing strategies thus assisting them in the development and implementation of internationalisation strategies.
The overall result will be a strengthened environment in total, improved monitoring of active SME’s in urban and rural areas, improved environment in urban and peri-urban areas as well as rural areas, promoted friendly practices in these fields of economy, promoted use of environmentally friendly energy sources, promoted self-awareness and organized public campaigns.

Aragon Company of Agri-environmental Management S.L.U (SARGA) is a public company belonging to the Government of Aragon that implements a wide range of agrienvironmental projects and services addressed to improve the rural affairs and the environment in Aragon region. (Northeastern of Spain). More information: http://www.sarga.es/doc/sarga_english.pdf We are responsible for the practical implementation of agri-environmental policies in sustainable development field promoting smart, inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship, and therefore we are involved in designing and delivering these innovative policies, hence our capacity to implement improved techniques. Counselling Office for Irrigators, courses and training with regards to the use of water in irrigated lands, processing of the SIGPAC (geographical information system for agricultural parcels), inspection unit in the SASAC (agricultural area subject to Community support), maintenance and management of public farms and estates of agricultural use, and agro-food promotion of high quality products by means of the participation in fairs/exhibitions and marketing/communication campaigns.

In recent years, SARGA has acquired great experience in innovation and Smart cities in rural areas because we are in charge of the management of the Sustainable Development Programme, with a total amount of investment is approximately EUR 50 million. As you saw in our presentation we work in the field of regional challenges in depopulation areas (we have many areas with less than 2hab/km2) and declining industries in rural zones. Zaragoza is the capital city of Aragon and gathers 51% of the region population (800.000 inhabitants approx.). The remaining 49% of Aragon population is scattered in more than 700 villages, being most of them of less than 500 inhabitants.
We have experience in the development of Self-Entrepreneurship and to support the capacity of SMEs to engage in growth in innovation processes at regional and national level, but also at EU level because we worked in two Progress Projects:
    1. NEW SKILLS FOR GREEN JOBS. A case for a more gender inclusive labour market? The development of the “green economy” constitutes a highly significant trend in Europe. Green industries (rural Tourism) account for a growing proportion of GDP and employment growth. At a time of economic recession, they frequently represent beacons of light in an otherwise dark landscape. But they also present challenges. Significant and rapid increases in demand for “green skills” are placing major pressures on education and training systems, and raise questions about how we can ensure a fair distribution of the benefits in society. Many of the main growth sectors and occupations have traditionally been under-representative of women.
    2. GOODWORX3 The aim of GoodWorx³ Project is to contribute to social innovation, social inclusion and labour market integration, by identifying and promoting good practice models of cooperation between public authorities, private companies and social enterprises, as well as social impact assessment methods.

Also, SARGA has long and successful experiences of European Union funding projects in fields such as environment, empower entrepreneurship in rural areas, open data, sustainable rural development Projects, regional smart strategy, energy efficiency, capacity building, women entrepreneur, biomass, Clean Energies, R+D+I Projects, business transfer to new generations of entrepreneurs…
Also we are running several UE Projects in environment, innovation and smart energy efficiency field:
    • HOMER Project (MED Program) http://homerproject.eu/project HOMER is the strategic MED project that focuses on the theme of Open Data, a world-wide policy aiming at making available and exploitable Public Sector Information (PSI). Governments are increasingly recognising the benefits of making their data open and reusable. The first is transparency: simply opening PSI, citizens can be better informed and participate in the decision making process. The second is linked to the economic value of PSI, whose wider re-use is considered a primary content resource for the development of digital markets
    • MED MAIN Project (MED Program) http://www.med-main.eu/ It is aimed at disseminating countermeasures to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, that is the strong rise of temperatures that occurs in the urban areas with respect to the surrounding countryside due to absorption of solar radiation by the building and pavement surfaces. Very effective countermeasures to the UHI effect are given by cool roofs and cool pavements, that is the wide range of technological solutions that are characterized by high and certified capacity to reflect solar radiation.
    • STEP Project. (Interreg IVC) Improving Communities’ Sustainable Energy Policy Tools. The project foster local level policies supporting energy efficiency and energy self-sufficiency derived from national/regional policies. http://www.steproject.eu
    • LIFE+ POWER Project. Demonstration and quantifying of the potential energy savings derived from both, the efficient water management and the generation of models to scale through renewable energy-based devices applied to water pumping systems and the subsequent quantifying of the reduction of emissions to the atmosphere are sought. http://www.lifepowerproject.eu/
    • We have a Department for Biomass promotion, thanks to our participation in Woode3 Project (Interreg MED Program http://www.woode3.eu ) and developing Environmental Management Plan for SMEs.

Also as references as reliable partners:
    1. We received two awards from the European Commission as best of the best in the management of 2 Life+ projects.
    a. ESWAMAR Project, (SARGA was the Project Coordinator) http://www.life-eswamar.eu/Comun/Upload/VerAdjuntoContenidos.aspx?IdAdjunto=4066
    b. POWER Project, (SARGA is partner). Last 24 April 2015 http://ec.europa.eu/environment/life/news/newsarchive2015/april/index.htm#best
    2. Aragon has received an award for best open data portal, developed in collaboration with the HOMER Project (MED Programme) and the 19 project partners have chosen Aragon as the most active project partner. http://homerproject.eu/

For all the above, we would like you to consider our candidacy to participate in your project and contact me in order to have more information and contributing to the proposal writing.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Adam Pisula

    Dear Eugenia,

My name is Adam Pisula. On the Interreg MED forum I have seen your partner search announcement regarding the Doing Green Bussiness in Albania – Embracing Green Technology Development, through Policy, Information & Knowledge Society Project. I am writing to you on behalf of AAEL (Asociación Andaluza de Electrodomésticos) in order to express our interest as a partner for the project promoted by your entity. I know that the deadline is approaching quickly, therefore if you are still looking for partners I would like to provide you with relevant information as fast as possible.

Could you please send me more detailed description of your project, together with partner form where I could present our Association in details? We have been aware of your project proposal, thus we would like to express our interest on joining it. At this respect we would like gather more information concerning the project idea, such as main objectives, main activities, the estimated overall and partner’s budget and other partners you aim to include in this project. Also, we would be really grateful if you could indicate the duration and possible start date…

Below you can find briefly description about our Association with short information about relevant experience of us.

AAEL (Asociación Andaluza de Electrodomésticos), is a business non-profit organization that bases its work in defending the interests of small and medium business Andalusia in the appliances sector. It was constituted in 2011 and it was originated inside CECA (Confederación Empresarial de Comercio de Andalucía). Currently, AAEL has more than 1500 members integrated (SMEs).

Main objectives of the AAEL are:
    – Continuous modernization of the sector
    – Incorporation of new information technologies and communication
    – Commitment to quality
    – Training
    – Commercial land development
    – Promoting recycling of electrical and electronic waste
    – Environmental Consulting

AAEL cooperates with the regional Goverment and with private organizations in proyects of dual training. As AAEL is inside of CECA (Regional Business Confederation of Andalusia), and CECA has taken part in Transnational European Proyects, as Leonardo, Poctec-Poctefex, Med Programmes, indirectly AAEL has some experience in European Proyects.

We took part in the Ecoimplícate project, that was launched under the campaign “Reciclando Aportas Valor” promoted by the Andalusian Association of Home Appliances (AAEL) and GIS European Recycling Platform (ERP), and also with in collaboration with the Regional Business Confederation of Andalusia (CECA) and the Andalusian Federation Appliances (FAEL), through which it aims to encourage selective recycling, information and awareness campaigns on the responsible use of waste, Energy Saving etc. The aim of this campaign is to inform and educate both employers as well as citizenship about the negative consequences to the environment caused by the pollutions, batteries, Domestic Appliances or lamps.

Given the importance that the environmental impact occupies today in our society, and the importance of improving energy trading SMEs in Andalusia as key to improving the competitiveness of this sector tool, the Regional Business Confederation of Andalusia in collaboration with AAEL, has two programs to encourage energy saving among the public and small and medium businesses running which are Efficient Climate Program and Efficient Lighting Program aimed in the retail sector and SMEs to seek and encourage saving and energy efficiency in buildings and facilities located in Andalusia.

We strongly believe that the experience and active involvement our Association has demonstrated throughout its previous European, regional and local project prove the added value we could add to the project.

We would be delighted to have a possibility to take a part in your project team. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Dear all we are writing to request your attention in considering us as partners in any project of green innovation, green waste management innovation and social inclusion. We are strongly committed in entering in field shared projects since we would want to achieve some innovation in our services and share our experience of social inclusion through job creation and social economy.
Below you can find a short description of the core activities of our social cooperative/social enterprise:

we are a social Cooperative called La Formica/The Ant based in Rimini province- Italy. Our cooperative is a Type “B” cooperative (as by italian law: employment of disadvantaged people), with the aim of pursuing the general interest of the community for human promotion and citizens’s integration.
The starting business idea was the management of the Separated Collection in the city of Rimini.
La Formica in fact, began only with the paper collection in the old town center in 1996, later it extended the separated collection to all types of Municipal/Urban Solid Waste.
This important environmental sector, which remains the main activity of the Cooperative, was followed over time from other sectors of work placement for the disadvantaged people:
Advertising panels (in various neighboring municipalities); Road maintenance and road signs; Management of cemeteries and funeral billboards; Deposit management of used furniture and garments ; Collection of used garments to support various social projects and the last innovative one- Production of silent industrial brushes made by recycled materials.
Currently La Formica has 50 members and almost all of them are employed in the different working sectors of the cooperative. The actual staffing plan has about 100 operators hired on an annual contract that in the summer can be up to 120, thanks to the seasonal assumptions related to the work increment during the touristic relevant period which affects notably even the environmental sector.
La Formica was created to merge a new concept of more operational and professional service management – particularly functional to the environment- with an incisive and decisive participation to social issues of Rimini territory strongly related to public ethics.
Our social cooperative is deeply rooted in Rimini area as it is close to the people, the history and the tourism of the city.

Thank you for the attention and kindest regards,
    A. Vogli
