    Ars Civilis Foundation

    Dear Ivor,
The Ars Civilis Foundation (Murcia, Spain) is really interested in participating in your project idea of the MED Program and have the possibility to collaborate with you and the other partners.

Our foundation is interested to create with the Municipality a comprehensive strategy, as we use to develop, for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage to make it an engine of growth and of job creation. Considering the structure of your Island, the integral strategy would include: cultural built heritage, natural resources and biodiversity, underwater cultural resources (we work in cooperation with the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology of Cartagena, Spain).

One of the main points of cultural heritage preservation is a new form of governance that requires incorporating as active actors: all the institutions, neighbors, associations and SMEs who allows creating long-run projects and actions with an important protagonism of the civil society. Civil society has to be the main protagonist and of the historical heritage preservation.

We use to collaborate for the creation of standards and criteria for the cultural heritage conservation and diffusion that could be very useful for sustainable tourism management. We think that we could share and bring a lot of other useful knowledge and experiences, considering that the heritage preservation and the tourism are entirely interdependent.

We would really be honored to collaborate with you in this project,
    Cristina GutiƩrrez-Cortines, Ars Civilis Foundation
