“Mare senza plastica” is an educational campaign on sea waters’ micro-plastic pollution, organized by Ambiente Puglia (no-profit organization) in collaboration with other local associations. The initiative aims at promoting a greater environmental awareness among people living along the coasts of Bari, Southern Italy. We carry on conferences with experts (academic and sectorial) in schools, yacht clubs, associations, where researchers relate about their sea waters’ monitoring activities, such as marine waters conditions, marine litter analysis and on the main patologies affecting animals eating plastic debris. Audiovisuals and exhibitions help participants to develop a new conscousness and inform them on how to appreciate the environment, living in a sustainable way. Local artists show their works and teach students how to realize creative objects of daily use by recycling plastic garbage. Following awareness conferences, we go along the coast to collect marine waste, together with representatives of local institutions, volunteers and common citizens. Contests are also planned, in order to reward and share referred best practices and sustainable ways of living.
We would like to join an EU project, in order to share our expertise on events organization, communication and diffusion of best practices.

    Dear all,
We are a group of researchers from Cyprus and other EU countries, interested in collaborating with researchers on topics of cultural heritage and water.
In view of the need of integrating the ‘water issue’ in the development of innovative strategies for reducing the impact of tourism on environmental and cultural heritage and to ease the pressure on water resources, much higher in the MED area, suggests to design a transnational project that, capitalising existing knowledge and building upon the extraordinary archaeological heritage, would release ‘full-packages’ of replicable interventions at different levels. The project will deliver:
    1) a study of the state of the art for different aspects of the use of water in the Mediterranean past, promoting a new approach to archaeological heritage,
    2) an assessment of the actual integration of the ICZM into local and regional policies and legislation for the selected pilot areas,,,,, and so on.

Kindly contact me at above email address

    Nicholas
