    The Groundwater Engineering research group at Polytechnic University of Turin has been researching on shallow geothermal energy for more than 5 years.
    Our skills are mainly but not limited to:
    – characterization, monitoring and modelling of aquifers for geothermal purpose (Ground Water Heat Pumps, GWHP);
    – development of simplified methods for the assessment of thermal recycling in GWHPs;
    – mapping of shallow geothermal potential;
    – modelling of shallow geothermal systems, coupling building and HVAC plant;
    – environmental impacts of shallow geothermal systems (e.g. thermal plumes).

    The GW engineering group at POLITO is currently participating to the GRETA project (near-surface Geothermal REsources in the Territory of the Alpine space). In particular, POLITO is leading the WP4 on the assessment and mapping of shallow geothermal potentials. Further information at the official website: http://www.alpine-space.eu/projects/greta/en/home

    We are interested in collaborating at projects in the MED programme, bringing our know-how on shallow geothermal energy, which is one of the most promising renewable energy sources.
