The Patronat de Promoció Econòmica of the Provincial Council of Lleida, together with the actors of the territory involved, want to develop an innovation project on the typology of agricultural production, industrial and tourist in the context of a new irrigation area and, in largely, is considered ZEPA (special protection area for birds): The Segarra-Garrigues canal Zone.

This area covers an extension of 70.150 ha, through 35.00km of pipelines and 342 hm2 of allocation. Almost 40% of this area is protected.

    The project objectives are:

    1. Identify the current state of the area, with special emphasis on the areas that still haven’t been watered.
    2. A benchmarking study with other regions which have or have had the same casuistry.
    3. Create a discussion forum with the participation of all stakeholders, where the most suitable actions are prioritized.
    4. Implement, on an experimental way, in some affected properties, some of the prioritized actions
5 Visits and results’ dissemination between the possible beneficiaries
