aurelioUNESCO Sicilia Foundation is a Regional Agency recently founded by Italian State (50%)
and Sicilian Region (50%) and involved in cultural heritage and environmental protection
and promotion policies concerning the seven Sicilian UNESCO protected areas and serial
 sites.
Due to its two Foundation partners UNESCO Sicilia can effectively and directly influence
 National and Regional policies.
UNESCO Sicilia is interested in learning the best practices and management methodology
used for applying UNESCO guidelines in dealing with management in general inside
 the UNESCO sites.
Besides, UNESCO SICILIA is very keen to study the available best practices in the field of
private investment attraction and PPPs promotion for environment and cultural heritage
conservation and sustainable exploitation. All the above as from the regulatory as well as
from the practical point of view. Our main issue is, after fostering the exchange of
experiences, the preparation of mandatory action plans for integrating and deploying good
practices within regional policies and first of all within programs. We are also interested in
experimenting some “peer review practice”, in terms of teams of experts to be engaged to
visit our 7 UNESCO sites to review our governance strategy and methods. As project “My Heritage my future” aims to implement PRIORITY AXIS 3: PROTECTING AND PROMOTING MEDITERRANEAN NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCES, OBJECTIVE 3.1, herewith we express our interest to take part to the above said project.

 Dimitrios BardakidisDear Sir,
on behalf of the Municipality of Xanthi (Greece), I inform you that we are interested to participate in your project idea under the MED Programme. The Municipality of Xanthi has significant experience in INTERREG projects as Lead Partner as well as Partner. The old city of Xanthi is one of the biggest traditional settlements in Greece which has the specialty to exhibit mixed traditional Greek, European and Oriental architectural features. It is also a living organization which is continuously inhabited by a large proportion of city’s inhabitants. It’s the host place of two major cultural events . Xanthi Old Town Festival (it is organised in Xanthi every year in late summer) and Xanthi’s Carnival (a festival with a 50 year history). In both events a large number of cultural activities are taking place. Also in the city of Xanthi there are large 100 years old building blocks (monuments of the industrial architecture) used in the past by tobacco industry.
The Municipality of Xanthi has taken a significant effort the past 30 years to restore and conserve the infrastructure on Old City and the tobacco warehouses so that both inhabitants and visitors to enjoy this culturally significant part of our city. A number of these buildings are already used as public buildings or cultural buildings (such as museums, galleries etc) It has also taking effort to promote small and medium scale entrepreneurship taking account the protection of cultural heritage and profile of especially the Old Town. Many have to be done in the future.
If the project scheme is still open please send us details about your project and our potential role in it. If you need any more information about municipality of Xanthi profile feel free to contact us.Best regards,

Andrea SannaDear Sir, my name is Andrea Sanna and I’m an associate professor at the Computer science department of Politecnico di Torino, Italy. Your idea of creating a “common” repository of cultural sites is very interesting and we might provide you the technical support to design and implement this solution. Moreover, we could also support the project by developing software applications to take advantage from information stored in this repository, such as mobile apps. If you are interested in this kind of participation, don’t hesitate to contact me. Best regards,

 MaurizioHallo,
I’m writing on behalf of municipality of Vibo Valentia, We think your project proposal was very interesting for the city and we would like from you to consider us as possible partners.
Vibo Valentia is a city and comune (municipality) in the Calabria region of southern Italy, on the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the capital of the province of Vibo Valentia, and is an agricultural, commercial and tourist center (the most famous places nearby are Tropea, Ricadi and Pizzo).
 Main sights
 – Norman-Hoehenstaufen Castle, located most likely on the site of Hipponion acropolis, and built around 1000. For its construction materials from the Greek temples nearby were used. It was damaged by an earthquake in 1783. Today the castle is home to archaelogical museum.
 – Walls of Hipponion, including about 350 metres (1,150 ft) of remains and foundations of eight towers, each with an estimated height of 10 metres (33 ft).
 – Church of Santa Maria Maggiore e San Leoluca (Cathedral), built in the 9th century over the remains of a Byzantine basilica. It has an 18th-century marble high altar with a 16th-century sculpture of “Madonna della Neve”, and a Renaissance triptych.
Church of Santa Ruba (c. 1000), built by Pope Callixtus II. It has a large cupola in Oriental style.
Church of the Rosario (c. 1337), located over a Roman temple. Originally in Gothic style, it was remade after the 1783 earthquake.
If you are interesting to involve this partner please contact me

Julia Sáiz-PardoDear colleague, We are interested in your project proposal. Please, find below a general information about our institution: The Legacy of al-Andalus Andalusian Public Foundation is run by the Regional Government of Andalusia (Spain). Our actions are developed in all Andalusia region. Our main activities are cultural and tourist and we have experience in different European projects (as leaders and partners). Our Routes, the Routes of El legado andalusí, represents the biggest cultural tourism offer existing today in southern Spain; through an extensive itinerary that includes more than 200 towns, they connect the main capital cities of Andalusia with a rich cultural heritage. The Routes of El legado andalusí were designated in 2004 as Major Cultural Itinerary of the Council of Europe; From our headquarters at the Pavilion of al-Andalus and Science (Granada, Spain) (4,477m2), the Foundation carries out a good number of didactic activities and workshops to raise awareness on the Foundation’s labour and to promote its Cultural Itineraries and Tourist Routes.
Concerning European Projects, the Foundation has participated as leader or partner in different programs INTERREG IVC, POCTEP, POCTEFEX, GRUNDVIGT, LEONARDO and ENPI-CROSS BORDER COOPERATION. All of them focused on education, culture, tourism and social integration. Nowadays, we are leader of Umayyad project (ENPI-CROSS BORDER COOPERATION):
At Mediterranean level, tourism has often led many countries and regions to develop the industry in a competitive way rather than in a cooperative manner. For obvious climatic reasons but also due the role played by tour operators, Mediterranean tourism destinations have based their growth essentially on a “sun and sea” vision and developed strategies aimed at maximizing short term profits instead of addressing the needs and expectations of customers and residents. In this sense, there is a real need to adopt and introduce new consumer models translated into environmentally friendly tourism products, respecting natural resources and diversifying the seasonal nature of tourism demand. The UMAYYAD project contributes to this objective by promoting sustainable tourism based on the synergies derived from the design of a cross-border itinerary between 6 countries sharing common history and cultural background.
 Our main skills are:
-Management and coordination of European projects experience.
 -Mobility (Grundtvig) activities and experience.
 -Organization of cultural activities experience.
 -Organization of Educational activities experience.
-Organization of tourist activities and experience. (Routes of The Legacy of al-Andalus).
-Planification and materialization of tourist Routes.
-Experience in organization of activities with stakeholders, companies and entrepreneurs.
-Experience in organization of activities related with traditional and contemporary arts and crafts.
More than 60 themed exhibitions organized, more than 3,200,000 people have visited these exhibitions, which have implied the biggest movement of museum pieces ever carried out in Spain. Editorial work, having published more than 80 books in several collections on themed matters.

 Ars Civilis FoundationDear Sirs,
The Ars Civilis Foundation (Murcia, Spain) is really interested in participating in your project idea of the MED Program and have the possibility to collaborate with you and the other partners. Our foundation is interested in creating with your Municipality a comprehensive strategy, as we use to develop, for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage to make it an engine of growth and of job creation. One of the main points of cultural heritage preservation is a new form of governance that requires incorporating as active actors: all the institutions, neighbors, associations and SMEs who allows creating long-run projects and actions with an important protagonism of the civil society. Civil society has to be the main protagonist and of the historical heritage preservation. We use to collaborate for the creation of standards and criteria for the cultural heritage conservation and diffusion that could be very useful for sustainable tourism management. We think that we could share and bring a lot of other useful knowledge and experiences, considering that the heritage preservation and the tourism are entirely interdependent. We would really be honored to collaborate with you in this project,
 Cristina Gutiérrez-Cortines, Ars Civilis Foundation
