Axis 3 – Protecting and promoting Mediterranean natural and cultural resources

Specific Objectives of the project: to improve the development of a sustainable and responsible rural tourism; to better manage conflicting interests on economic development, isolation of rural areas, tourism and environment protection; to enhance the development of green tourism through outdoor and sporting activities respectful of natural resources and integrated with the local socio-economical context
Background: Green tourism is one of the strategic sector for the development of natural areas often affected by isolation, demographic changes and lack of services.
In the last few years several outdoor activities and events are proliferating and not always in a coordinated way. It would be interesting to assess the potential impact that these activities may have on natural resources and environment and make this sector can grow in a sustainable and durable way.
In addition, considering that green tourism can become an important economic resource for natural areas, it would be interesting to test forms of management entrusted directly to local subjects (e.g. farmers, cooperatives of young people, associations, economic operators …).
Expected Results: The project idea aims to enhance the development of green tourism through outdoor and sporting activities respectful of natural resources and integrated with the local socio-economical context
Searched Partner: Local authorities, policy makers, economic stakeholders (farmers – SMEs – touristic organizations), associations, citizens, tourists.

    Paolo

My name is Paul Ferlisi and I represent a cultural association that deals with European projects in the south of Sicily. Our area is interesting from several points of view: it is an area where there are several sites UNESCO (Scicli, Modica, Ragusa, Noto); it is a highly naturalistic (Ispica valley, different areas zps, sic); It is a rural area.
I read your project proposal and I think it’s really interesting.
I have several related to the scope of intervention that you are carrying out.
In our network we have several public and private institutions (various municipalities to the provinces, universities, research centers, chamber of commerce) that could, if you want, participate in your proposal.
If you believe that we can work together or if you want to ask for any information we are available.
