ATO SELE – Looking for partners

The Ambito Territoriale Ottimale (ATO) SELE is a ‘Covenant Coordinators’, a public administrations which provide strategic guidance, financial and technical support to municipalities signing up to the Covenant of Mayors but lacking necessary skills and/or resources to fulfil their requirements.

ATO has established a working group with Department of Environment Science and Technology (DiSTABiF) of the Seconda Università di Napoli (SUN) and other local enterprise, including SME Norman Research: in this context, 10 JOINT SEAPs (SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ACTION PLAN) were executed with the involvement of about 90 municipalities for a population of over 406,000 inhabitants and a territorial area of about 3,000 metre quadric localized to the southern area of Italy, in the Convergence regions-Campania Region to the south of the Salerno province. All these JOINT SEAPs has already received the approval of the JRC, the European Union SEAP revision official.

In this context, ATO SELE has an on-going program of operations on the properties of the company and municipalities that are ATO compliant with regard to the following actions:
– Operations to modernize and maintain the public lighting network.
– Energy Redevelopment of public buildings through operations on the heat management systems.
– Energy Redevelopment of public buildings through operations on the electrical systems.
– Energy Redevelopment of public buildings through operations on the building envelopes.
– Energy saving and optimizing the water systems.
– Installation of photovoltaic systems on public buildings
– Installation of solar heating systems on public buildings and sports structures.
– Sustainable mobility: Electric Mobility Network.
– Development of a software platform to monitor actions.
– Implementation of an Energy Management System.

It has been estimated that after the proposed operations have been implemented, there would be a total energy saving of 2.959.492 MWh. The overall reduction of greenhouse gasses is estimated to be 286,382 tons of CO2.
Moreover, ATO SELE has established an energy service company (ESCO Cilento, Vallo Diano Sele srl) with and the Ambito Territoriale Ottimale (ATO) SELE in order to realize the investment program.
