In case you have not heard yet, the European Commission adopted the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) in 2014. The Strategy was then endorsed by the European Council in October 2014. It has been jointly developed by the Commission, together with the Adriatic-Ionian Region countries and stakeholders, in order to address common challenges together. The Strategy aims at creating synergies and fostering coordination among all territories in the Adriatic-Ionian Region.

The EUSAIR covers eight countries: four EU Member States (Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia) and four non-EU countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia).

EUSAIR has a limited focus on areas of mutual interest with high relevance for the Adriatic-Ionian countries. It is built on four thematic pillars:

1. Blue growth
2. Connecting the region (transport and energy networks)
3. Environmental quality
4. Sustainable tourism

The 1st Forum of the EUSAIR will take place in Dubrovnik (Croatia) on 12/13 May 2016. This event will take stock of the progress of the Strategy since its endorsement by the European Council and will contribute to define the way ahead. The event provides ample possibilities for networking, and represents a great opportunity to reach out to a wide range of stakeholders from the Region, including national, regional and local administrations, the business sector, the academia and the civil society at large.

Deadline for registration: 9th May.
