Partner search for wool enhancement and rural development project

The overall purpose of the project is to valorize local wools through the development and promotion of innovative processes and products. The action strategy is based on studies and experimentation of innovative applications for a) textile sustainability, b) producing new, eco-sustainable and value-added products from wool wastes. The project strategy is based on innovation and technology transfer to the SMEs and the fruitful cooperation between territorial corporate bodies, companies and research centers at transnational level. The creation of innovative materials to be introduced in the productive sector would have several positive effects including:
1) Ecological, through the maintenance of biodiversity and encourage sustainable development, protection of the environment by reducing waste and wool through the use of materials with low environmental impact
2) Economic, bringing support to the productive activities of agriculture, trade and the creation of new production chains
3) Social, increasing awareness of the value of local resources.

Your project idea is one of high interest to us, since Thessaly region has local wool production. The producers are facing difficult times due to the economic crisis and new sustainable ways of wool production could lead the way out of it.

I am postdoc researcher at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain) and the University of Copenhagen.
I did my PhD about transhumance in Spain and I have a strong interest on the great potential of the wool industry in Spain (with a large population of merino sheep).

I might be interested in participating in the partnership but would first like to know a little more about the project.
