The project aims at revitalization and enhancement of natural stone sector in Mediterranean European countries creating synergies among the different stakeholders to develop new corporate strategies, heading all together in the same direction towards a circular and green competent economy.
The strengthening of the sector is addressed through next concrete actions:
 Characterization and standardization of the adequacy of use that each type of stone has for different applications. To create a natural stone catalogue with requirements for the end-user.
 Second alternative uses for waste generated by the extraction and processing of natural stone. Cluster creation: the second chance for natural stone wastes.
 Recovery of traditional uses of natural stone in the current context.
 Dissemination and awareness of the historical and social importance of natural stone in Europe.
To share the concerns affecting the sector with other sectors engaged in research and development related to a better use of stone and waste generated should contribute to making the sector more sustainable and competitive, creating employment and developing the territory with the lowest possible environmental toll achieving a more efficient and responsible use of natural resources.

    Hola Carlos,

    Dear Carlos,

My name is Chatzilamprou Ismini and I am writing to you on behalf of the Region of Thessaly in Greece.

Your project idea “New challenges for the maintenance and sustainable development of the natural stone” is one of high interest to the region. The reason for that is that Mt. Pilion has been since the ancient Greek years, one of the best sources of natural stone for different uses all over Greece. It is thus important for us that we have the chance of generating alternative uses for the waste generated by the extraction and processing of the natural stone.

Our R&D team has a big experience in EU projects, on different project programs and of different disciplines.

If you are interested in having Thessaly Region as a partner, please contact us at: topoismini@gmail.com.

    Best regards,
    Ismini
