The Therapeutic Riding Center of Serres –Greece is searching for partners

The Therapeutic Riding Center of Serres – Greece is looking for partners for developing a scheme, which will be tackling societal challenges with a special focus on vulnerable groups (young and adult people with Autism and other psychological and kinetic disabilities, etc) with the aim of developing skills for social, employment and educational integration. The project intends to: Support the needs of young and adult people with Autism and other psychological and kinetic disabilities as well as their families through the provision of specific family support programmes; Foster the creation of innovative solutions in the care of individuals with Autism and other psychological and kinetic disabilities, by strengthening cooperation between innovators; Improve the policy framework at national / regional/ local level;

The Therapeutic Riding Center of Serres –Greece (TH.RI.CE.S) has been providing horseback riding therapy to people with disabilities in northern Greece since 2007.

“Iliachtida” Autism Center of the Prefecture of Serres, Greece – Association of parents, guardians and friends of autistic persons. It is a Center of Therapeutic Special Education for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID).
The staff of TH.RI.CE.S and ILIACHTIDA will work together with the specialists, community and voluntary providers in the med region to provide integrated family support to specific families.

My organization is a riding center. For us the instructor’s purpose is to instill an appreciation for, and understanding of the horse, physically and psychologically. A knowledge of form, function and progressive development of the horse’s natural ability to perform to its utmost capability is the aim of the informed horseman. All aspects of the animal’s growth need fostering. To this end, Scuderie del Peschio methods of training and care follow as closely as possible the natural inclinations of horse and rider. This includes herd (team) cooperation, playfulness (games), competition (shows) and travel (trail rides). Close cooperation between man and animal leads to trust, friendship and healthy dependency. This union, once realized, is of the highest of attainments and can carry over to productive relationships in child’s or every person’s future life.
