Anna FrancoDear all,
I’m working on a project idea to be presented under the MED Programme, dealing with the use of renewable energy, energy saving and reduction of CO2 emissions. This project will involve a public building as a case-study and the purpose is to completely avoid the use of non-renewable electric energy.
I’m Looking for public partners from other countries interested in replicate the case-study. I’m also searching for energy agencies or universities who can carry out the feasibility study and compare the results.
A private company working with energy saving technology is needed. The Province of Padua is a public local body. We have a long experience in Territorial Cooperation projects, but we have never worked on the MED Programme.
Thank you in advance and best regardsAnna Franco

I work for SARGA is a public company with more than 1.200 workers, belonged by Government of Aragon (Northeastern of Spain). More information: http://www.sarga.es/doc/sarga_english.pdf We are responsible for the practical implementation of policies in sustainable development and agri-environment field, and therefore we are involved in designing and delivering these policies, hence our capacity to implement improved techniques.
Now we are running MED MAIN Project (MED Program) http://www.med-main.eu/ It is aimed at disseminating countermeasures to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, that is the strong rise of temperatures that occurs in the urban areas with respect to the surrounding countryside due to absorption of solar radiation by the building and pavement surfaces. Very effective countermeasures to the UHI effect are given by cool roofs and cool pavements, that is the wide range of technological solutions that are characterized by high and certified capacity to reflect solar radiation.
At STEP Project. (Interreg IVC) Improving Communities’ Sustainable Energy Policy Tools. The project foster local level policies supporting energy efficiency and energy self-sufficiency (among other fields in Public buildings) derived from national/regional policies. http://www.steproject.eu
Also, SARGA has long and successful experiences of European Union funding projects in fields such as empower Entrepreneurship in agriculture industry in rural areas, open data, sustainable rural development Projects (support schemes for entrepreneurs),smart strategy, energy efficiency, capacity building, women entrepreneur, biomass, Clean Energies, environment quality, R+D+I Projects…
Also we are running several UE Projects in innovation and smart energy efficiency field:
• HOMER Project (MED Program) http://homerproject.eu/project HOMER is the strategic MED project that focuses on the theme of Open Data, a world-wide policy aiming at making available and exploitable Public Sector Information (PSI). Governments are increasingly recognising the benefits of making their data open and reusable. The first is transparency: simply opening PSI, citizens can be better informed and participate in the decision making process. The second is linked to the economic value of PSI, whose wider re-use is considered a primary content resource for the development of digital markets
• LIFE+ POWER Project. Demonstration and quantifying of the potential energy savings derived from both, the efficient water management and the generation of models to scale through renewable energy-based devices applied to water pumping systems and the subsequent quantifying of the reduction of emissions to the atmosphere are sought. http://www.lifepowerproject.eu/
• We have a Department for Biomass promotion, thanks to our participation in Woode3 Project (Interreg MED Program http://www.woode3.eu ) and developing Environmental Management Plan for SMEs.For all the above, we would like you to consider our candidacy to participate in your project and contact me in order to have more information and contributing to the proposal writing.

Nastia FlegarDear Anna,
The Research and Educational Centre Mansion Rakičan is a public regional organization from Rakičan (2km from the city centre of Murska Sobota), cofounded by the municipality Murska Sobota, Slovenia. We are active in the field of research, education, tourism, intergenerational cooperation and lifelong learning.
We are situated in a mansion, which dates back to the 15th century. Now the mansion belongs to the Municipality of Murska Sobota. The administrator of the whole building is the Research and educational centre Mansion Rakičan, which offers a diverse range of services of great importance for the environment where it is located.
Since the partial renovation in the year 1990, the mansion has at its disposal 6 fully equipped class rooms and one multimedia room, which are used for numerous formal and informal educational programs, international conferences, seminars and different events. The academic program “Agroindustrial Management and Rural Development” is carried out at Rakičan mansion, which serves as an external unit of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Maribor.
The renovation in 1990 has furnished the mansion with accommodation capacities, which include 15 rooms with bathrooms and 45 beds.
The educational and accommodation capacities, as well as the office of the Research and educational centre Mansion Rakičan, are used during the whole year; therefore all of the accommodation rooms as well as the rest of the infrastructure is heated the whole year around. Our main heating sources are gas and electricity. As all other old buildings, our mansion is very ineffective and inefficient regarding room and water heating and the power consumption is very high. Since we are located in the rural part of Slovenia and surrounded with beautiful nature, we are looking for environmental friendly solutions, which could reduce the energy consumption.
We have many experiences in organizing international conferences, for example “Ecology for better tomorrow; Nutrition, exercise and health and Challenges and Problems of modern society”. So we could organize a conference on the subject of alternative options for sustainable energy resources where the options for such solutions that include buildings that are under protection could be presented and discussed. We could also provide a pilot study, so our case could be a good example how to preserve old historical buildings and at the same time implement a modern approach to sustainable energy and environmental friendly policies.2 September 2015 at 17 h 54 min #3299

Anna FrancoDear all, thank you for your interest.
The project idea is now more defined: we will work on schools as public buildings and the purpose will be to test any kind of renewable energy or energy efficiency approach. At the end of the testing phase the project’s consortium will compare the results in order to identify the better solution for the MED area.We are looking for public bodies who have previous experiences in energy efficiency and who want to test it on a school building.
Moreover, the partnership needs the presence of research centers in order to validate the results (and to support in the feasibility study those bodies who don’t have specific competences).
We are also looking for a private partner who can provide the technology.Anna Franco
