RDA of Northern Primorska Ltd. Nova Gorica

    Dear Mr. Hanfredda,

We are writing in regard to the partner search within the Interreg MED Programme.

We are the Regional Development Agency of Northern Primorska, Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The RDA has been established in 1999 to identify the needs in economic and social environment and to stimulate regional development – our owners are the 6 municipalities of our region and thus we also suggest to consider the partnership of the Municipality of Nova Gorica as well.
In the RDA there are 15 employees in 5 fields of work, among which the Local Business Centre which stimulates SMEs’ development and promotes innovative activities, the Dept. for Regional Development and International Cooperation which takes care of sustainable development and economical growth in the Goriška region, and the Project Office responsible for the preparation of project documentation, elaborationg various project ideas and searching suitable partners.

The RDA has prepared the Regional Development Plan 2014-2020 for the Goriška Region and the strategic objective of the second developmental priority is to promote innovation and technological development in the economy of the region, safeguard its environment as well as cultural and natural heritage of the region. In the programming period the RDA’s task is to promote end enhace sustainable tourism as a driver of the sustainable development.

We have yeras of experience in the field of EU projects. Over the past years we have participated in and implemented several projects, which were presented under different programmes ( Cross-border cooperation Slo-It 2007-2013, Central Europe, South East Europe, IPA, Alpine Space, COSME, ERASMUS+, Leonardo da Vinci programme, etc.)
You can find more info and our past and current projects on the web site: http://www.rra-sp.si

    Dear Mr. Hanfredda,

I am contacting you on behalf of the City Council of El Ejido and in regard to your partner search for the project concerning local agricultural products you are preparing for the MED Programme 2014-2020. The Municipality would like to express its interest in your project.

Below you can find a brief description of the Municipality and its activities. I have also attached a pdf document with general descrption of the city.

El Ejido is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It is a coastal city and a centre of production for fruit andvegetables and has a fast-growing population of about 85,389 people. The economic development of El Ejido is based on a rich and varied social, cultural and historical mingling. The Municipality is well aware of the importance of promotion of local agricultural products and food chain, limiting food waste and encouraging a healthy alimentary culture.; consequently, we believe El Ejido would be a valuable addition to this project.

In more detail, the economy of El Ejido is focused on intensive agriculture (greenhouses), around which it has generated a rich auxiliary industry based on the trade of horticultural products at a national and international level. Thus, the production of tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, etc. is the engine of the economy of this town, whose success depends on a multi-level control: creation of seed and patterns for consumption standards, control growth and specialization of production to meet the demands of different markets, and generating a network of international trade to ensure the placement of production. Recently there has been a widespread transformation of pest control techniques of agricultural crops, so that in most greenhouses fighting pests through biological control, chemical control instead.

If you believe that we could contribute to this project I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Kind regards,

    Eva Kyriakou

I am a reseracher from the University of Evora, Portugal. I am in a research center focused in agriculture and environment (ICAAM – Institute of Mediterranean Agricultural and Environmental Sciences), and I am developing reserach in the area of food choices, particularly in how sensorial perception at oral cavity determines acceptance, preference and modulates choices. We are working in saliva composition affecting percepton and choices.
