    ASAP Looking for partners from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Greece – public authorities, associations and NGO’s, research bodies, and to some extent enterprises… for sustainable coastal and maritime tourism – to stimulate competitiveness of the respective stakeholders and industries, and the sustainable development of the sector. This ought to be achieved through enhanced coordination, prioritization and branding among the sectors and regions involved [e.g. to promote comprehensive (at sea basin or sub-sea basin) tourism packages involving cruising, diving, sailing and/or to develop cultural routes, joint itineraries]…….

    Dear Maria,
    your idea sounds very interesting, really, and I would like to introduce our Istitute in order to understand if we could be useful to propose our cooperation:

    SiTI – Higher Institute on Territorial Systems for Innovation is a non-profit association (Research Institute) set up in 2002 between the Torino Polytechnic and the Compagnia di San Paolo (foundation of bank origin), to carry out research and training oriented towards innovation and socio-economic growth. Its activities are mainly focused on the following sectors: Environmental heritage and urban redevelopment, Environmental protection, Logistics and transport.
    We have developed an in-depth knowledge in the field of Territorial Development and tourism management in cultural and natural tourist destinations. In particular the Research Unit is experienced in:
    – The analysis and evaluation of tourism systems: typologies of tourism and related aspects (e.g. Accessibility, Hospitality, and Information);
    – The monitoring of tourism flows;
    – The economic evaluation of tourist behaviour;
    – Elaborating guidelines for the management of tourist destinations and sites;
    – The analysis of public and territorial policies;
    – Territorial marketing;
    – Market and scenario analysis;
    – Data analysis and representation with GIS system and thematic maps.

    SiTI is member of NECSTouR – Network of European Region for Sustainable and Competitive Tourism.

    SiTI usually implements projects in partnership with national, regional and local public administrations and has experience in European research and cooperation projects.
    Referring to European Territorial Cooperation Programmes, we can mention the project “Via Francigena and the Pilgrimage Ways. This is Europe” PER VIAM Pilgrims’ Routes In Action, (EU DG Enterprise and Industry Call for Proposal – 2012-2013) and the study “Sustainable Tourism Development in Kakheti through Cultural Heritage”, funded by the World Bank (2012), and aiming at understanding the cultural tourism potential of 12 cultural sites, mainly of religious nature.

    SiTI, in collaboration with A.T.L. – Azienda Turistica Locale del Cuneese (local touristic promotional agency), tested the European Tourism Indicators System (ETIS) tool in order to make the tourism industry of the area more competitive and sustainable. The implementation was under the agreement of Regione Piemonte.
    Among the national projects related to coastal areas in which the Institute took part, we can mention:

    – The monitoring of cruisers flows in Ancona (ISNART – Istituto Nazionala Ricerche Turistiche, 2013)
    – The tourism in the Province of Savona: analysis of the reception and perspectives (Confcommercio Savona, 2011-2012)
    – Management Plan of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Portovenere, Cinque Terre, and The Islands (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto)” – ( Filse Spa (Liguria, Italy), February 2015 – April 2016)

    Currently, we are partner on a Interreg Central Europe “ECRR – European Cultural Route of Reformation” interreg-central.eu/ECRR
    If interested, we can better analyze our skills and know-how.

    Please receive in advance my regards,

    – it has many years of experience on the participation in transnational cooperation projects.

    Below is a short description of Agricultural University of Tirana/Faculty of Economy and Agribusiness.

AUT consist of 5 faculties, structured in 21 constituent units.
    The faculties are: Faculty of Economy and Agribusiness; Faculty of Agriculture and Environment; Faculty of Forestry Sciences; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Biotechnology and Food, with about 15.000 students.
    Actually, the university offers 62 study programs that are labour market orientated in all study cycles. AUT was a partner in 12 projects in framework of “Tempus IV” Programme, alongside with other Western and regional universities, projects which focus on the reform and consolidation of higher education in the Balkan countries. It is also partner in 6 projects funded by Erasmus + Programme. AUT has also experience in EU scientific projects (Interreg, IPA-Cross Border Collaboration, FP5, FP6, FP7 and Horizon 2020 Programmes). For the academic year 2016/17, AUT has signed over 20 bilateral agreements with partner institutions from the Erasmus+ Programme countries (KA 1). Proposed project are implemented by respective faculties.
    Faculty of Economy & Agribusiness (FEA) has relatively new life. It was founded in the year 1971 (at that time faculty of Agrarian Economy). Former faculty of Agrarian Economy was called as such since the end of the year 1994, during that time entire restructuring of Agriculture University of Tirana was done. This restructuring lead in merger of this faculty within framework of Agriculture Faculty with two departments, respectively; Department of “Farm & Agribusiness Management” and Department of “Economy & Rural Development Policies”. Restructuring began in 1994 and ended in 1998, and was the result of close advice from SARA project (American Support for Agriculture Restructuring in Albania). Its fundamental aim is to offer diplomas required by the agricultural and agribusiness sector in a free and open market economy.
    In 2007, as result of restructuring of former “Agriculture Faculty”, the Faculty of “Economy & Agribusiness” was founded with six departments: Department of “Agribusiness Management”, Department of “Economy & Rural Development Policies”, Department of “Finance and Accounting”, Department of “Rural Tourism”, Department of “Business Informatics”
    Scientific research at AUT is considered an essential component of the academic life and a concrete contribution to the progress of Albanian agriculture, as well. Scientific research has been conducted through participation in: national projects, projects undertaken by the National Agency for Environment; bilateral projects with Greek and Italian government; DAD projects; NATO projects; IMG Tempus projects; World Bank projects; and projects for research and development which were funded by the Albanian government.
    As the major center for education and scientific research in the area of agriculture and food, FEA has been the initiator of establishing research-production links. These links have been materialized through the signing of “Memorandum of Understanding” with Albanian business.
    FEA has clearly defined nine research areas as scientific priorities, which are as follow:

     Regional development and inter – regional integration policies.
     Agricultural policies and their evaluation analysis.
     Management strategies of inputs and outputs in agriculture.
