The Basilica di Sant’Andrea in Vercelli, a gothic-romanesque church which represents one of the most relevant in Europe, heart of development of the gothic architecture in Italy, is now celebrating its 800 yearsof history.This celebratory theme, marked by the great symbols which have written the city’s history throughout the centuries, represents a remarkable attractive tool in regard to its cultural and tourist value, for a city of art such as Vercelli which relies on its excellences in order to shape a future based on the improvement of the sustainable use of its heritage and cultural resources. The project idea is structured on three main points:1. Creating new ways of enhancing the heritage, by using new tools as digitalizing, multimedia and new media art, of the cultural offer and the emerging links between history, art and professions, with the involvement of museums, schools, universities and art and culture workshops. 2. Proposing a new way of making culture by performing (theatre, dance, etc.) and visual arts and by interacting with the audience, through the contamination of various art genres, the emotionality of a cultural narrative branching off virtual reconstructions, illustrative and multimedia supports, sounds, lights and fascinations.3. Exchange with other european realities about the development of the gothic art.
